My Chair….
I sit, still, exhausted from decades of scheduled activities that have melted me into my trusted chair where I've become accustom to reflecting on all that occurred the hours, days, years leading to this satisfying moment; end of day, a sense of accomplishment, for completing the inevitable. Regardless of all that occurred; the good, bad, accomplishments, procrastination, all concludes at this moment as a historically and carefully curated, indexed and achieved moment in time; aggregated with all the that proceeded. My chair, ready for me, welcoming me, allowing me clarity and acceptance on the day, all I owned of it, responsible for it, the making, knowing I moved through it and reflecting on what I done with it; did I do too much, too little, make an impact, cause happiness or harm, find joy, have fun. An assessment of my day in a life in a matter of seconds. Learning over the years not to anguish over the would've, could've, should've, or worrying about what others are doing, having, material possessions. Void of competition and comparisons. My chair. Acceptance of all, not having to think what is next and knowing that tomorrow at this moment is an eternity away. Clarity allowing for that moment where all things just feel right with where I am in the world, in my trusted chair. A chair that has grown in importance and meaning over the years. A chair that allows for a pause, a deep breath, a satisfying sigh. A chair that allows for the feel of protection from the distance chaos of all the tomorrows to come. A chair that knows all that led to this exhausted moment. Knowing years to come will exacerbate this earned badge of exhaustion, this acentric sense of accomplishment that can leave you drained causing a forced momentary paralyzing moment leading to this "its done" sigh knowing you will be in that chair, melted, feeling of relief and planning for the hours, weeks and months ahead. It is then you realize, you are the chair, you create the moment (anywhere / anytime). It is for you and up to you to be…
